From a British Conservative who loves his country, to Americans who still believe in theirs: Honor the vision of your Founders. Respect the most sublime Constitution ever devised by human intelligence.

Never be afraid to speak to and for the soul of this nation; of which, by good fortune and God’s grace, you are privileged to be part.

September 29, 2010 - Daniel Hannan, member of the Bristish Parliament, addresses the CATO Institute in Washington, D.C. to discuss the perils of socialist policies.  Mr. Hannan eloquently speaks to the future of the United States from the perspective of someone who, as he says, “has seen it.”

This is a well-delivered talk that touches on the subject of Mr. Hannan’s new book, The New Road to Serfdom:  A Letter of Warning to America.  I urge you to see the entire speech at the link below.

governor palin: drop and give me 20! and don’t go crying to obamacare…

Governor Palin has been busy!

This afternoon, she launched - yes, launched - her latest rhetorical dissection of all that is wrong with Obamacare and the “yay-hoos” who foisted it on us.  The entire post is worthy of lamination, but below is a choice section tdc found particularly spectacular.

In her discussion of the multi-trillion dollar costs of Obamacare, Governor Sarah Palin writes:

This is probably what President Obama was referring to when he admitted recently that he had known all along that “at the margins” his proposals were going to drive up costs. Give us a break! Only in this administration would they refer to a $3 trillion spending increase as “marginal.” Next time he comes to us with another one of his harebrained proposals for a budget-busting federal power grab, let’s make sure we remember the president’s admission that he was lying all along when he told us his health care plan was going to cut costs. He is increasing costs. He admits it now. Period.

Higher costs and worse care – is it any wonder why people are overwhelmingly in favor of repealing and replacing Obamacare? Politicians who have vacillated on this issue need to be fired. Candidates who don’t support “repeal and replace” don’t deserve your support. No amount of money spent on Washington’s “government-wide apolitical public information campaign” (otherwise known as “propaganda”) will convince Americans that this awful legislation is anything other than a debt-driven big government train wreck. We need to repeal and replace it, and that can only happen if we elect a new Congress that will make scrapping Obamacare one of its top priorities. We can replace it with pro-private sector, patient-oriented reform that the GOP has proposed.

Once again, Governor Palin lays out a concise, informative, hard-hitting argument for fighting back against unfunded government mandates and arrogant politicians.

In March of this year, Governor Palin set her sights on gaining twenty key seats in congress.  Now, a few short weeks before the election, she and her team have taken their effort to the next step with a new website, Take Back the 20.

From a design perspective (of course, we have to go there…) the site is nicely done.  One page, clearly-organized, informative, and makes an immediate call to action - the Palin team has done their due diligence.  Now, though, it’s time for us to do our due diligence.

Visit Take Back the 20.  See which candidates you can help - with time or resources - then step up and do so.  The race for 2012 starts now.  Whether the GOP nominee is Sarah Palin or someone else, November 2010 will decide the extent of the mess he or she has to clean up.

To carry the metaphor a bit too far:  grab your broom and help sweep some tired ol’ legislators out of office and into the dustbin of politics-as-usual.

Now that the show has finally aired in the really-western U.S. (a.k.a Alaska), let’s post this awesome video.  Well done, Team Ballin!

This was a first-performance to be proud of.  Bristol Palin was clearly having a good time; and her partner, Mark Ballas, seems to have made some good progress in coaxing the shimmy-ing abilities out of his student.

Let’s hope millions of voters saw the potential in Ms. Palin and she gets to stick around for a few more weeks.  If tonight is any indication, there’s some skill there, just waiting to be unleashed!

Joe “Creepy McG” McGinniss Stalks the Palin Backyard

Last night, Governor Sarah Palin sent out a nice update about the glories of summer in Wasilla, Alaska:  Gardening, lawn mowing, children playing, and a creepy Massachusetts writer with no talent and a wild imagination who has decided to vacation next door to the Palin family home for the next five months.

What was that last part, you ask?  Yes.  That’s right…we speak of Joe McGinnis.  The author of a hit-piece in the now-defunct Portfolio magazine has decided that in order to research his new book (a longer-winded hit piece on the governor?) he needs to be up close and personal with his subject.

Somehow, both Joe and his publisher (Random House) decided that next door to the Palins would be an appropriate place to set up shop.  For the rest of the world, however, this new living arrangement is decidedly inappropriate and shockingly invasive.  It is truly appalling to see how far some people will go in their obsession with Governor Palin and her family and this situation reeks of harassment!

Creepy McG. has stepped way out of bounds on this one and, despite the Governor’s humorous write-up, the Palins must certainly be ill-at-ease knowing this guy is just a few feet away from their family home.  Creepy’s vacation plans may be technically legal, but they are anything but decent.  The Palins are average citizens who have a right to some semblance of privacy.  Now, it seems, they’ll have to alter yet another aspect of their daily lives to take the time and resources to build a fence between their home and their unwelcome observer.

This whole situation is absurd and Creepy McG. is clearly disturbed.  Random House Publishing should be ashamed to have any association with this man and should act immediately to get his backside out of the Palin’s backyard.
